Enhancing Accessibility and Inclusivity

The training "Accessibility, Inclusivity, and Barrier-Free Environment" took place in Lviv on January 23-24, 2025.

The training program was designed for teams working directly with victims and witnesses, as well as those responsible for the technical and material support of support centers.

The training covered critically important topics, such as:

  • Understanding social vulnerability, including multiple discrimination and social exclusion of victims.

  • Using a trauma-informed approach to prevent retraumatization.

  • Familiarization with the six areas of Ukraine's National Barrier-Free Strategy.

  • Developing practical plans to implement the center's strategic goals.

The event aimed to help participants integrate barrier-free principles into physical infrastructure while considering the needs of diverse user groups.

Participants actively engaged in practical exercises and reflective discussions, deepening their understanding of accessibility and inclusivity.

The event is part of the project "Enhancing Accessibility and Barrier-Free Access at the Coordination Center for Victims and Witnesses of War Crimes and Regional Support Offices for Victims and Witnesses," implemented by the NAVKOLO Charity Foundation with the support of the project "Transformational Recovery for People’s Security in Ukraine," funded by the Government of Japan and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine.
